About Ruth Ann Gaines

Ruth Ann Gaines is a dedicated public servant representing Iowa House District 33. An educator by profession, Ruth Ann has taught drama at East High School and worked as a professor at Des Moines Area Community College. She holds a Bachelors degree in Drama and Speech from Clarke University and a Masters degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Rep Gaines has delivered  many very significant speeches including:  Introducing President's Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama;   Commencement speeches at Iowa State, UNI, and Clarke University.

Ruth Ann has served on advisory boards for Pyramid Theatre Company, the State Foster Care Review Board, and the Loras College Board of Regents. Her commitment to community, equity, and education underscores her work in the legislature.

Ruth Ann completed 30 hours of graduate work beyond her Master's Degree and is a graduate of Leadership Iowa as well as Leadership Des Moines.
